Invisalign aligners

What are Invisalign aligners?

Invisalign aligners are among the most popular clear aligner treatments available. They use clear, removable aligners to discreetly straighten the teeth without any need for brackets or wires.

Invisalign aligners are made from a flexible clear plastic, and each set is custom-made to your mouth. Every patient will receive a series of aligners which are slightly different each week. By wearing the aligners for 20-22 hours per day, the teeth are aligned and straightened over the course of the treatment.

Why choose Invisalign aligners?

Highly discreet teeth straightening

Invisalign aligners don’t use any brackets or wires and are barely noticeable when worn.

Rapid results

Invisalign aligners can improve alignment and correct orthodontic issues in as little as six months.

Comfortable and removable

Custom-made, flexible and removable, Invisalign aligners allow you to continue eating, drinking and brushing as you did before treatment.

What do Invisalign aligners cost?

As with all types of braces and orthodontic treatment, the cost of Invisalign aligners depends on the severity of your misalignment and the type of aligners you need. At Smiles Dental, we believe in transparent pricing, so your dentist will explain all costs in full before treatment begins.

How do Invisalign aligners work?

A step-by-step guide to Invisalign treatment

A step-by-step guide

Step 1.
Consultation:

Book a consultation with a Smiles Dental clinic that offers orthodontics. They’ll discuss your needs, examine your teeth and decide which option is best for you. They may also use an intraoral scanner, which will create a 3D image of the potential results of aligner treatment.

Step 2.
Making the aligners:

A series of removable clear aligners will be custom-made for your specific needs.

Step 3.
Checking your aligners:

Your Smiles Dental dentist or orthodontist will make sure your aligners fit well. They’ll then take you through what to expect from your treatment and will answer any questions you might have.

Step 4.
Start wearing your aligners:

It’s time to begin wearing your Invisalign aligners, which will need to be used for 20-22 hours each day, removing them only to eat, drink and brush your teeth. You’ll have an appointment with your orthodontist or dentist every four weeks to check on your progress.

Step 5.
Complete your treatment:

Once you’ve worn every set of aligners, your treatment will come to an end. In order to maintain your newly straightened smile, you’ll need to wear a retainer each night for one year. You may need to continue wearing a retainer after this time if recommended by your clinician.

How long do Invisalign aligners take to straighten teeth?

Most Invisalign aligners treatments take about 12-18 months, but it all depends on your unique needs and how severe your alignment issues are. In some cases, teeth are straightened in just six months. Your dentist or orthodontist will be able to predict how long your treatment will take at your initial consultation.

Are Invisalign aligners uncomfortable?

There shouldn’t be any pain with Invisalign aligners, but you may feel some slight discomfort each time you get a new set of aligners to wear. You may find that the edges of the aligners rub against your cheeks and gums when first being worn. This too should improve over time, but if it continues to be a problem, contact your dentist.
